Yes sumo all the things! I keep trying to convince my friends to at least try my DR-Z in the twisties before “upgrading” to the next size up sport bike. Sadly I’ve been largely unsuccessful in this endeavor.

Maybe you should convince them to try passing your DRZ in the twisties?

Since buying the DR-Z I’ve had two people in my normal riding group nearly crash trying to follow me into corners (like off into the grass, plants hanging from control levers once we stop) and I don’t even have a real sm, it’s an S to sm that I did myself which apparently burns them even more than getting beat up by my gsxr1000 suspension swapped sv650 ever did...

They can almost pretend the SV is a sport bike. No excuse for getting whooped by a dirt bike with 30ish hp though.

Lol it’s naked so I’m always entertained by how it is viewed differently depending on who I’m with. With my more purist sport bike groups it’s either “the blue cruiser” or for the younger guys “the blue cafe bike” and when I’m amoung cruiser guys it’s “ the blue crotch rocket”

The SV is everything it’s riders want it to be. Except a supermoto.

Amazing machine. Slicks on a dirt bike shouldn’t work this well, but it does. Only real problem areas are highway riding and and the stock carb has kinda “meh” throttle response.

I’m coming from a Grom lol, so the DRZ will be a rocket in comparison. Also, highway is not a big deal for me I’m all about the back roads. The transition of weight from turn to turn is what has got me hooked on motorcycles. I have kicked around so many bikes in looking for a new one, but I’m pretty sure that a supermoto will bring the most smiles. I can swing 12k on the husqvarna so I think the DRZ will be it.

I’m absolutely in love with the 701. Now, I’ve always been a mutli motorcycle guy, but I’m pretty sure the Husky could stand as an only bike for me. Can’t really think of a scenario besides hardcore touring where I’d want to be on anything else. The ONLY reason there isn’t one on my garage is that they gave it a 2012 spec LC4 rather than the all new 2016 Duke LC4. (Well, that and $12k is a hard pill to swallow for a dirt bike when the used DR-Z market is so cheap by comparison)

Coming from a Grom, you should also look at the Duke 390, another fantastic bike. I went to a KTM Demo day and tried every single bike they make. Favorite bike of the day? 390 Duke, over there super nakeds, over the adventure bikes. Thing felt like a mountain bike with a motor.
